Objective

After living in a global pandemic, restaurants in the process of reopening are now offering private dining pods to ensure the health and safety of its customers and staff.

 

Create a restaurant app that allows users to build a safe, custom dining experience with the goal of minimizing human interaction while still providing the experience of public dining. Create a touch screen ordering system that allows users to order and receive food without direct human interaction.

BRAINSTORMING & RESEARCH

I started brainstorming with how a restaurant space could be customized and how customers would be able to order their meal with minimal contact. I concluded that customers should be able to order and customize their dining space on their own  devices ahead of time before arriving to the restaurant.

After brainstorming, I researched themed restaurants and hotels rooms to see how they set up these unique environments. Because the dining pods had to be customizable, I thought that using 360 degree projections would be the best way to allow customers to customize their space. Next, I looked at several food delivery apps to determine what features would be useful to help customers and staff keep public dining as contactless as possible.
