BRAND IDENTITY DESIGN

Class Assignment

Objective

Design an identity system for the Kellogg University Art Gallery. Create a logo using a custom modular typeface. Following the brand style guide, create a series of posters and tickets to promote the Ink & Clay 45 show hosted by the Kellogg University Art Gallery. Apply the logo to a line of merchandise for the Ink & Clay show.

Dimensions

Poster: 18”W x 24”H

Ticket: 2”W x 4”H

LOGO & COLOR PALETTE
The dark green and gray colors were chosen as the main colors for the final logo. The dark and earthy palettes fit well with the Kellogg University Art Gallery’s reputation of being a prestigious and reputable institution. Inspired by the gallery’s annual Ink & Clay show, simplified illustrations of pottery and paint splatter were made for merchandising, posters and tickets.

TYPEFACE
The new logotype for the Kellogg University Art Gallery reflects the modernity of the museum and it pairs well with the artwork that are presented in the exhibitions. The modular typeface was designed to have thick and boxy letters with curved elements to keep the typeface organic. DIN 2014 was used as the secondary typeface for the gallery's posters and tickets. This typeface was chosen because of its modern quality that compliments the custom logotype.
POSTER & TICKET
The poster and ticket designs were created for the Ink & Clay 45 exhibition, hosted by the Kellogg University Art Gallery at Cal Poly Pomona. Additional colors were chosen for the ticket designs. Green represents the student ticket, blue for the faculty ticket, and gold for the alumni ticket.
GALLERY MERCHANDISE
Pottery illustrations were created and applied to various merchandise designs to promote the Ink and Clay 45 show at the Kellogg Gallery.
